ABOUT

Tanner’s adventurous spirit has taken him to 17 states over the past decade, leaving a lasting impression wherever he’s been. You might remember him as your whitewater rafting guide, your trail partner on a horseback tour, or someone you met along the way who shared his enthusiasm for the great outdoors. In recent years, Tanner, the Kalamazoo Cowboy ("Kzoo Cowboy"), discovered his passion for bull riding and fell in love with the sport.

No matter how your paths crossed, one thing is certain—

Tanner’s infectious personality, genuine love for nature, and ability to inspire excitement in others have made a meaningful impact on everyone who knows him.

Unfortunately, in early December 2024, Tanner’s life changed in an instant.

In early December, Tanner’s life changed forever when a catastrophic bull-riding accident shattered his vertebrae, leaving him with potentially lifelong paralysis. Emergency airlifted to a Dallas ICU; Tanner fought through critical moments with resilience.


In early February 2025,  after several intense weeks in the ICU and many thanks to the incredible efforts of his Dallas medical team, he stabilized and was transported to a rehabilitation facility in Houston, where he continues to work toward recovery for the next 5 weeks.

At this time, Tanner has chosen to keep the full details of his injury private.

What we can say is that Tanner has permanent paralysis affecting his limbs.  His recovery journey will be long—expected to take at least two years to understand the scope of his injury level—with lifelong challenges ahead.


However, what everyone who knows Tanner already knows: he’s one of the most vibrant, determined, and kindhearted individuals you’ll ever meet. His infectious energy and fun-loving personality have made a positive impact on so many lives. Those same traits will undoubtedly carry him through this journey.
